3.1 Phillip Lim 31 Minute Pop Art Clutch Bag

3.1 Phillip Lim makes some of my favourite designer clutch bags. Season after season, the brand produce fun and innovative designs - and I usually want all of them. The preloved market makes it possible to buy designs from seasons gone by, and that's how I find most of my favourite designs.

My love for 3.1 Phillip Lim's clutch bags is two-fold; firstly, I find the shape of the bag (which doesn't really change much season to season) is really practical, and that with smaller bags it's less scary to experiment with bold designs and colours. This specific style and size from 3.1 Phillip Lim is called the 31 Minute Cosmetic Zip. It features a slightly tapered shape, where the bottom is wider than the top and, rather than being rectangular or square, the bag is a subtle trapezoid. These qualities are subtle, but they help to give the bag a modern feel that keeps it from being too boxy or too flat.

Another important quality for any bag is that, from my experience, 3.1 Phillip Lim clutch bags always have super smooth zips. There's nothing more annoying than a stiff zip, but the one on this bag is just lovely. The opening aperture is also quite wide, so it's easy to get everything you need in and out of the bag. In terms of a functional clutch bag, this one has a lot of the boxes ticked! The only thing you might want to consider is that transparent panel on the front of the bag, it's really cute and very fashionable but it does mean that the contents of your bag are visible. A good way to get around this is to keep everything inside a white pouch/cloth-bag inside the clutch bag, this maintains the aesthetic without you having to compromise on what you carry.
