This beauitful mini bag is my latest pre-loved Isabel Canovas find - and for a pre-loved designer handbag that's three decades old, it's surprisingly on-trend!
The Isabel Canovas brand was born in 1981 and enjoyed a great deal of sucess among the super-rich. All Isabel Canovas pieces were priced to compete with brands like Hermes, and people still snapped them up! Eventually the business folded in 1992, so this eleven-year window is when all of Isabel Canovas' designer bags were produced. Which means that this little tan-leather crossbody bag is anywhere from 25 to 36 years old - and it's still looking pretty remarkable.

When I first saw it, in all of its feathery glory, it really reminded me of Chloë's Mini Fringe Hudson, as well as other bags from Chloë's SS16 collection. I know fashion is pretty cyclical, but this Isabel Canovas bag is built from fashion's staples.
The classic tan leather (wonderfully counterbalanced with contrasting black piping and a black strap) is never out of fashion, and works particularly well during the warmer months. The lovely warm brown shade is very flattering and looks beauitful paired with anything from denim to delicate summer dresses. I think that it would be a particularly a good choice for smartening up day-time outfits without compromising on trendiness.
On the back of the bag you can also find another interesting feature; the black leather patch is actually a belt-loop. The leather cross body strap can be detached and this mini Isabel Canovas bag can be worn on your hip, as an incredibly luxe fanny-pack. Funnily enough, this has been another increasingly popular design trend, with luxury brands like Chanel extending their lines in this direction.
I know that this way of wearing the bag might not appeal to everyone, but it's certainly an interesting option! If you're off to any summer festivals and want the option to go hands-free then this would be an incredibly versatile and stylish piece. Similarly, this would be a useful option to use whilst travelling during the summer months as you could attatch this bag to your belt whilst you go through the airport, using it to store your passport and other essentials. Then, when you get to your desination, you could continue to use it as a shoulder/crossbody bag.
