Over the last twelve months I've had the pleasure of selling quite a few Gerard Darel bags, including two other Le Buci models (in black and brown). Gerard Darel's Le Buci Bags are structured, with a trapeze shape, and typically they are made from smooth leather. I've seen models that have been well-used, and their leather softens becoming smoother and more shiny. This also tempers the bag's structure, making it slightly less severe with a more casual aspect. There really is a whole life cycle to this design, and at every stage the Le Buci looks beautiful.
In terms of practicality, the Le Buci doesn't come with a cross-body strap (unlike the Visconti model) and the strap-drop of the top handle isn't quite enough to wear this bag on the shoulder. This means that Gerard Darel's Le Buci Bag is best worn by hand or in the crook of your arm. However, unlike some bags, for such a large bag the Le Buci is very lightweight so it is comfortable to carry in this way. It can easily fit a laptop and even a packed lunch or compact gym kit, which makes it a great choice for a work bag.
