My first ever designer bag was a pre-loved Loewe clutch in black textured leather. It had been owned by a fashion editor at a magazine who had been given it as a gift and then proceeded never to wear it; meaning that when I bought it, the bag was still in fabulous condition. I don't know much else about my clutch, but I do know that it dates back to the early 2000s and that it was from the same collection, or series of collections, as this Loewe cream leather bag. Both my clutch and this trapezoid shoulder bag feature the same twist lock feature and enjoy a similar structured, boxy shape.
Despite it not being that old, something about the textured leather coupled with the structure gives this particular Loewe bag quite a vintage feel. Older Loewe bags, pre-dating J.W. Anderson's term as Creative Director, are often very minimal with a clear focus on excellent leather and beautiful but simplistic design. Loewe is also particularly famous for using nappa leather - a very soft lambskin - but this bag is quite different as the leather is robust and durable.
Despite being cream-coloured (it's showing up a little more white in my photos, but it's actually a beautiful warm-toned cream colour that would look gorgeous with tan and brown shades) this bag has barely any signs of wear. In any other leather I might be put off buying something in this colour, but Loewe's textured leather is very durable and care-free and this isn't a bag that you'd have to mollycoddle.
The interior of this bag is lined in a very fine beige suede (very typical of these type of Loewe bags from the 2000s) and is in immaculate condition. Thanks to the subtle trapezoid design, the interior is very spacious and it has two internal sections which help to keep everything within the bag tidy and easy-to-find. In addition, the shoulder strap is adjustable which is a really functional feature on any designer bag. A lot of thought has gone into this bag, and together all of these features mean that it's a really comfortable and wearable accessory that has already stood the test of time and still has many more years of life in it!
This Loewe bag, along with many other pre loved designer bags,
is available to purchase from Stored and Adored.
Great post, and great website. Thanks for the information! Loewe
